Wine … and Much More

Group Convener : Luisa Welch

“Life is too short to drink bad wine”

This group brings together wine lovers who are keen to learn more about the fascinating world of wine and spirits, wine tasting … and much more. The evenings are informative and convivial. The aim is to enjoy learning how to taste, discover new and unusual wines, wine producing areas and fascinating facts about well-known wines

❑ The tastings are guided by Luisa Welch, a wine educator who holds the WSET Diploma (Wine & Spirits Education Trust). She is a member of AWE (Association of Wine Educators), a wine judge at international competitions, and a drinks writer for several publications

❑ We have a summer and a winter ‘wine party’ and also offer visits to restaurants, trips to wineries and other wine related activities. The cost is in the region of £15 per person to include 6 quality wines for the tasting, plus 2 wines for drinking afterwards with refreshments. Glasses are provided

❑ As costs are incurred in advance in buying wine and food, it is important that members are prepared to commit to attending regularly. Last minute cancellations might incur payment if they cannot be filled from those on the reserve list

❑ Let’s discover the joys of good imbibing together. For this group, age is just a number, unless, of course, you happen to be a bottle of wine!

❑ The Group is very popular and more often than not there is a waiting list to join. If you are on the reserve list you may like to join the online group Wine On Line, hosted on Zoom by Luisa

The maximum number of participants per meeting is fourteen

❑ Members on the reserve list are invited to join meetings in rotation whenever there are spaces
