As u3a members we continue to have a responsibility to ourselves and other members to reduce the risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19. Therefore, we will continue to offer u3a group walks only after the completion of a risk assessment. This includes a requirement for individual members to complete a personal checklist confirming that it is appropriate for them to join the walk. We also ask that members attending walks provide us with their own contact number and a number for an emergency contact before the walk.
Our programme will be developed to reflect members’ interests but will generally focus on walks in London easily accessible by public transport from our area. Some of our walks will be circular, while others may be linear.
In general our walks can be categorised by the following in order of theme/pace/fitness required: The distance and timings will vary for each walk and will be clearly indicated. Distances will be between 2 and 5 miles. These categories are a guide only and full details will be given for each walk in advance
Category 1 : A gentle walk with multiple stops to discuss points or places of interest
Category 2 : A gentle social walk with no or minimum stops
Category 3 : A themed, informative, brisk walk with multiple stops
Category 4 : A brisk, social walk to increase the heart rate with a break for refreshments
