![]() Outings comprise a mix of walks and visits to some museums and smaller galleries, but mainly places less well-known and perhaps a bit quirky. We will be going to a mix of events, heritage locations (such as National Trust) and many others, some in London and some outside, taking half a day or a whole day. Recent outings have included the London Canal Museum (which combined the history of canals with that of Victorian ice importer and ice cream maker Carlo Gatti), Turner’s House, the William Morris museum, Osterley House and gardens (marvellous in bluebell season) and Ruislip Lido, Nunhead Cemetery (one of London’s classic historic cemeteries) besides cafe meetings and visits to small private galleries which often hold interesting exhibitions. The convener also invites members to things she is doing anyway, such as the cinema and events at Bruce Castle, and sends a weekly email, which started during lockdown and has been continued because it’s been well received ![]() Roslyn Byfield (Group Convener) |
