A friendly, supportive group for those of us who learnt French at school but have rarely used it to do more than order a glass of wine or buy a ticket to a museum.
Our French is often very rusty and we lack the confidence to open our mouths, so we appreciate the supportive atmosphere of a small group. We all come prepared to talk about something that interests us; we ask questions, make mistakes, ask for help, repetition and translation, and resort to Franglais when necessary. We recommend resources to each other, such as podcasts and articles, sometimes listen to French songs and see French films at the Crouch End Arthouse.
Group Convener: Dorothy Boswell
We meet every week on Thursdays at 2.00 p.m. in a COVID-compliant group of five at various venues – outside when the weather is warm and dry, and somewhere quiet indoors when it is not. Because of COVID regulations and to give everyone a chance to speak and to hear, while maintaining social distancing, numbers are strictly limited, so complete the application form below if you are interested. Details of venues will only be given when a place becomes available; however, if there is enough interest another similar-sized group could easily be formed.
