Totteridge to Highgate

Once again, daylight is in short supply and it is time to celebrate our second successful year of U3A Longer Walks!
Today’s walk begins at Totteridge, from where we follow the Dollis Valley Greenway south to Hampstead Garden Suburb, then on to Crouch End. An early start to the walk means we arrive in Crouch End in time for a festive lunch at The Queens.
From Totteridge our walk enters the area of meadowland and trees known as Whetstone Stray and heads south towards Woodside Park alongside Dollis Brook. We follow the Brook with occasional street detours through Laurel Way Open Space, eventually passing beneath the Dollis Brook Viaduct (the highest point on the London Underground, reaching nearly 18 m above ground level), before entering Windsor Open Space.
Still following Dollis Brook, we reach its confluence with Mutton Brook, and at this point we follow the latter upstream, under the North Circular and across the Finchley Road. Our route now takes us parallel to Falloden Way, following the Capital Ring through Hampstead Garden Suburb to East Finchley.
The final section of the walk involves crossing Highgate Wood and a descent through Queens Wood before we cross Priory Park and head into Crouch End for lunch.
(Please note that our lunch choices will be made from a special festive menu. Further details will be provided to members who sign up for the walk)
