The Outings Group enjoyed a visit to one of the London Gagosian galleries, to look at Imagining Landscapes, showcasing 13 pieces of work by the late American abstract artist Helen Frankenthaler, made between 1952 – 1976. She used both primed and unprimed canvases, some painted in oils and some in acrylic. The large scale of the paintings and the ambiguous references to landscape were impressive. There is an exhibition of her woodcut prints planned at the Dulwich Picture Gallery in September. finished with the very important aspect of the Group, a highly sociable coffee/tea/hot chocolate/smoothie in the sunshine.
