Summarised actions arising from the Executive Committee (EC) meeting held on 26 March 2021
Preparations for the AGM are proceeding as planned and a minimum of 72 participants will be required to ensure that the meeting is quorate. Further notices with meeting details to be issued shortly and convenors to encourage interest group members to take part. A total of 716 members have subscribed this year to date. Lapsed members to be contacted to ask the reasons for their leaving, as in previous years.
The Learning and Development Subcommittee is introducing a skills audit across the Executive Committee (EC) membership in order to advise a development plan in future.
Discussions are being taken forward within the newly formed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee on the organisation of a workshop for EC members, as a precursor to creating a policy and action plan afterwards. In addition, thoughts are being given to increasing the range of data collected (anonymously) on membership characteristics.
Although National u3a Day had been designated for 2 June 2021, it is likely that we will concentrate on organising a local Open Day later in the year instead.
Interest Groups / Members
Advice from the National u3a was imminent, (and has now been received), regarding re-starting outdoor groups, and is being issued to convenors once established. It is likely that advice for walking groups will be based on that of the Ramblers’ Association. Particular attention is being paid to requirements regarding risk assessments.
It is acknowledged that there will be a period of transition and uncertainty regarding other interest group activities until 21st June, and possibly after that. Also acknowledged that there is a lack of clarity on what indoor meeting spaces could be available in future and what the practical constraints may be.
Talks / Communications
Online talks have been booked up end of June and will possibly continue after that.
The next bulletin will be issued in April and newsletter in May.
