Christmas Companions

This post is a follow-up to an item in our October bulletin about our aim to provide companionship for any of our members who expect to be on their own this Christmas Day. We know that some of our members are without, or away from, families and friends and may like to have some company.

We might be able to help by:

‘matching’ (i) people who could offer a place at their Christmas meal table with (ii) others who would appreciate such an invitation

or

putting members who expect to be on their own in touch with each other, in case they might like to arrange a Christmas Day get-together.

Could you offer a place at your Christmas table? Might you be someone who would appreciate an invitation? Or prefer to meet with other people on Christmas Day for a get-together of some sort? Have a look at the following options:

1. If you want to offer an invitation to your Christmas meal, let us know by emailing christmascompanions@gmail.com and put Christmas Day Offer in the subject line.

In your email please tell us: can you offer one or two places? do you have any pets (re allergies)? is your home easily accessible? can you accommodate a guest who is vegetarian/vegan? which CEDU3A groups do you attend or convene?

Please include your address* so we can try to match you with people in the same area.

2. If you would appreciate an invitation to another member’s home for a Christmas meal, let us know by emailing christmascompanions@gmail.com and put Christmas Day Seeking in the subject line.

In your email please tell us: do you have any dietary requirements? do you have any allergies (inc food or pets)? do you have any accessibility needs? which CEDU3A groups do you attend or convene?

Please include your address* so we can try to match you with people in the same area.

NB In case we have more people seeking invitations than offers, please also let us know if you’d like us to put you in touch with other members who are arranging a get-together. (See 3 below)

We will do our best to put members who are ‘offering’ or ‘seeking’ in touch with each other.

3. If you would prefer to be put in contact with other members who also expect to be on their own on Christmas Day, in order to arrange a get-together, let us know by emailing christmascompanions@gmail.com and put Christmas Day Share in the subject line.

Time is short so, if you are in any of the three categories above … we need to hear from you by November 10th.

Let’s hope we can make this Christmas Day as enjoyable as possible for all our members!

*We will only use your address to ‘match’ members; we will not pass it on to anyone else.
