Walking the Lea Valley

Middle Way Walks 2020

Beginning with the January walk the Middle Way Walkers will hike alongside the River Lea from its source in Leagrave, following the Lea Valley Path, until we reach the River Thames at Limehouse Basin. The exact number of walks will depend on the number and length of off-route diversions that we decide to adopt, but the Lea Valley path itself measures 50 miles from source to Thames.
We will walk through Luton, Hatfield, Hertford, Ware, Cheshunt and Waltham Abbey to reach Greater London, continuing through Enfield Lock, around the Lee Valley Park and into the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park before we finally finish at Limehouse Basin. Along the way we will enjoy urban sights, lovely villages, canal and riverside views, reservoirs, parks, architecture and wildlife. As well as enjoying our 50 plus miles of walking, we also hope to learn a thing or two about the River Lea and its environs.
This is a great opportunity to complete a recognised long-distance path in the company of like-minded people. We hope you will join us in this adventure!
